Role Description

This is a full-time Principal role reporting directly to the CEO with either a hybrid or remote working option. 

Your Role

  • “Owning” client relationships and leading projects

  • Fuel the growth and success of our clients by:
  1. Developing a strong understanding of our clients’ business so that Stack serves as a trusted extension of the client’s internal team
  2. Influencing regulatory proceedings at the state and wholesale level to help achieve client’s commercial objectives 
  3. Providing actionable intelligence that translates complex “regulatory-ese” into clear commercial impact 

  • Contribute to Stack’s success through achieving high client satisfaction, thought leadership, and identifying new growth opportunities

  • Establish trusting and productive working relationships with relevant industry stakeholders; stay apprised of relevant industry developments and advise CEO  

  • On a limited basis, identify and/or assist with business-critical tasks

Your Qualifications

    • At least 5-7 years of relevant energy industry regulatory experience; success in influencing regulatory outcomes and navigating state regulatory and/or wholesale market processes
    • Communicates complex topics in a succinct, digestible manner; can link regulatory details to commercial outcomes (“here is why this matters for your business”)
    • Self-motivated and accountable and has the executive function skills to meet deliverables in timely fashion and meet independently with clients; takes pride in work
    • Excels at drafting comments, building and delivering presentations; embraces challenge of digging into regulatory details; can leverage AI to be efficient
    • Comfortable speaking up and being assertive (while professional) in stakeholder meetings
    • Cersatile with a growth mindset; curious and enthusiastic about new issues, technologies, geographies, and can come up to speed quickly; open to shifting priorities
    • Capable of receiving and providing constructive feedback; eager to improve
    • Thinks strategically about how to achieve regulatory and commercial objectives in the most efficient manner possible; can leverage relationships to achieve win-win outcomes
    • Ability to help with new client recruitment is preferred, but not necessary 

Compensation

  • Base salary of $120,000 to $150,000, commensurate with skills, experience, and qualifications
  • Eligibility for bonus target of 15% – 25%
  • Stack offers comprehensive medical, dental, and vision benefits and a 401 (k) plan with 1:1 employer-employee match up to 4%

Expectations

  • Stack wants employees to have a strong work-life balance and to typically work 40 hours per week; we avoid overcommitting to clients so that our clients remain highly satisfied and our team members enjoy their work and the personal lives and do not get burned out
  • Since this is a remote/hybrid role, trust and transparency are paramount; location is flexible, but team members are expected to be available for client/internal calls during normal business hours and travel approximately 10% of the time
  • The role will require a mixture of research, advocacy, presenting, providing actionable commercial intelligence and on a limited basis, business tasks. The Principal is fully committed to executing in each of these areas with high standards
